What is RSS?
RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a way to keep track of newly posted content on websites without having to actually log-on to each site. It allows your computer to check "feeds" from your favourite Web sites throughout the day. An RSS feed "reader" then displays a summary of any new items it finds.
Why subscribe to the TravelAlberta RSS feeds?
Our Travel Alberta RSS feed will alert you to newly posted Holiday Card Last Minute Specials. These special offers provide excellent savings, but could sell out quickly. With RSS, you can be at the "front of the line". It's a great way to ensure you can act quickly to take advantage of these special deals! There is no cost to subscribe to the RSS feed.
How does RSS work?
To use RSS, you need a RSS reader that will collect and display web content items. There are many different readers available, many for free. Most readers are applications that you download and install to your computer, however other options include readers that are web based and e-mail based.
The list of available readers is large (and rapidly growing), but they all serve the same function - retrieve new web content from any of the RSS feeds you have subscribed to and display it in a user-friendly format with a headline and description. Each reader will have its own set of default options including preferences for how you want the news items to display and how frequently or infrequently you want the reader to retrieve content.
How do I get started?
Here is a list of some RSS readers. (You can also do your own web search of the "most popular RSS readers" to help you narrow down the choices).
After setting up your reader, you will be ready to use TravelAlberta.com RSS.
