The winning combination of two international airports in Calgary and Edmonton, along with a vast network of regional hubs, makes Alberta a seamless venture for business travel. In fact, scheduled air service to, and within, Alberta is as easy as this interactive map.
But, perhaps the biggest surprise for international travellers is how close Alberta actually is to their home city: It's less than a four-hour flight from Chicago to Calgary; just under 3½ hours from Los Angeles to Edmonton; 1½ hours from Seattle to either Calgary or Edmonton and no more than six hours from New York to either of Alberta's international airports.
With an area of 661, 185 square kilometres (255,000 square mi), Alberta is Canada's fourth largest province and is bigger than all U.S. states except Alaska and Texas. Rove your cursor over Alberta's borders and you'll discover our southern neighbour is Montana, to the west lies British Columbia, to the east is Saskatchewan, and Alberta's north is bordered by Canada's Northwest Territories. Alberta's only "natural" border is the Continental Divide in the southwest. Here, from the U.S. border to Jasper National Park, the majestic Rockies rise to heights of more than 3,000 metres (9,800 ft.). Running along their eastern edge are rolling ridges known as the foothills where many of Alberta's ranches are located. Covering the rest of the province are plains which include prairie, parkland, and boreal forest.
