Category Search Tips
Category Search Basics
Select a category you wish to search - for example attractions or events. Choose the options you desire on each search template by clicking on the boxes to display the checkmark symbol. Once you have selected your options click on the 'Search' button. A page displaying the results of your search appears. The page displays in alphabetical order the number of items that match your search. There are also several options to sort the results - in ascending or descending alphabetical order, by area (city/town) and for events by event start date. You can then click on individual items for more information - items will open as small pop-up windows with further details on the items.
Keep these important notes in mind when choosing your search options:
Town/Regional Search:
Search by town OR tourism region - not both. For example, a search where 'Calgary-City' has been selected as the town will
return no results if the 'North' tourism region has also been selected.
Search Options:
When selecting search options (e.g., type of attraction or season), selecting multiple options will find everything that falls
under each item selected. For example, searching for an item that is a major, family and architectural attraction will bring up
everything from each of those categories - not just attractions categorized as all three.
Be as Specific as You Wish:
All available options do not have to be completed. One is enough to complete a search. However, the more specific you are with the
options, the more specific the results.
